- Seat foam density. 32 kg/m³ HR is the minimum for daily sitting; 35 to 40 lasts longer under heavier people.
- Fabric rub count and weave. A family set with kids should be rated 25,000 rubs or higher.
- Number of pieces. A 3+2+1+1 has four frames to build and upholster.
- Recliner mechanisms, carving and custom sizes.
Best Sofa Set for Home: Showroom Checks
- Sit for five full minutes, not five seconds. Your knees should be level with your hips.
- Lift one corner about 6 inches. If the opposite leg stays down, the frame is twisting.
- Press the arm tops. You should feel padding over wood, not bare wood edges.
- Ask whether the cushion covers zip off and can be dry cleaned.
